About Cottonmouth ARV
Textron Systems Cottonmouth is an amphibious Advanced Reconnaissance Vehicle developed for the United States Marine Corps. The six-wheel platform acts as a naval sensor node, combining full-spectrum reconnaissance and surveillance with electronic-warfare and beyond-line-of-sight support. Its compact amphibious design is intended for ship-to-shore deployment, with space for two crew and five embarked Marines.
Textron lists land speed above 65 mph, swim speed above five knots and a 37,000 lb maximum gross vehicle weight. In April 2026 the company announced a $450 million pre-production-development agreement covering 16 vehicles, three systems-integration laboratories and four blast hulls, moving the programme beyond prototype evaluation. Field capability depends on the delivered variant, mission payload, crew, communications and programme qualification.
