Outpost

Outpost is ThayerMahan's persistent uncrewed surface vessel for maritime surveillance and passive acoustic monitoring. The platform harvests wave, solar and wind energy for deployments designed to exceed 90 days, while towing a large-aperture passive sonar below the acoustic layer to monitor activity over wide areas.

Onboard acoustic processing supports automatic detection and classification, with selected results transmitted securely for near-real-time review. The system is presented for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, coastal and port security, illegal-fishing monitoring, infrastructure protection and marine-mammal observation. Mission payload, communications and reporting configuration depend on the deployment, while the energy-harvesting surface platform provides the endurance and towing function common to the system.
