About RIVR
RIVR is a Zurich-based robotics company within Amazon that develops wheeled-legged delivery robots and their autonomy software. Founded as Swiss-Mile, it focuses on the last mile and the final approach from a delivery vehicle or shop to a doorstep. Its robots combine rolling travel with legged movement to negotiate curbs, steps and uneven ground. The delivery service includes remote human assistance for exceptional situations.
RIVR develops hardware and learning-based control together, drawing on reinforcement learning in simulation and data collected during real deliveries. Its product range includes RIVR ONE and the newer RIVR TWO, whose top-loading, bottom-release payload system is designed for unattended handoffs. Company-level programmes with logistics and food-delivery operators have tested robots alongside human couriers. Amazon acquired RIVR in March 2026.
