About
About Thales
Thales contributes enabling systems around uncrewed aircraft and other autonomous platforms, drawing on air-traffic management, radar, electronic warfare, communications and navigation. TopSky–Astra provides a traffic-management layer for drone registration, authorisation and beyond-visual-line-of-sight coordination, while the wider portfolio covers detection and response to unauthorised aircraft as well as mission electronics carried by customer platforms.
In August 2026 Thales and Kelly Hills Unmanned Systems announced a three-year Kansas programme using TopSky–Astra to support agricultural flights beyond direct pilot sight. That deployment illustrates the group’s role as regulated airspace and systems infrastructure, not a pure-play drone manufacturer. Product qualification, procurement and operating authority depend on the customer programme and jurisdiction.
