Zhaowei builds micro-drive assemblies by coupling a motor to a transmission selected for the required movement. Its designs include planetary, worm, lead-screw and other gear arrangements, while an added control board regulates speed and position. This lets the company supply an integrated movement mechanism as well as the separate gearbox.

The engineering work includes gear modelling, strength checks, simulation and noise analysis. In vehicle display mechanisms, for example, geared drives raise cameras or move screens within a confined dashboard or roof assembly. Other designs adjust lens spacing in headsets or drive the wheels of robotic lawnmowers. These applications share a need to package controlled rotary or linear movement inside another manufacturer's product.
