• 2026-09-30 - Partnership - FANUC and Hitachi partner to commercialise Physical AI for factories

  Initial validation in Ibaraki factories covers varied-part picking and production changeovers. The partners will assess recognition, robot motion, takt time and quality, including use of Hitachi’s edge AI semiconductor. The work combines Hitachi’s HMAX Industry AI with FANUC’s industrial robots and control technologies.

  The agreement covers robotic arms, mobile robots and Agile ONE, with AgileCore for simulation, control and orchestration. The partners plan to use Hitachi edge AI semiconductors and bring solutions to market through HMAX Industry and Agile customer channels. Longer-term work aims to coordinate multiple robots, machines and people across whole factory operations.

• 2026-07-15 - Capability - Hitachi adopts NVIDIA Cosmos and Isaac for physical-AI R&D

  NVIDIA Metropolis is also being applied to the company’s smart-building operations. Planned membership in the NVIDIA Cosmos Coalition extends the work into open world-model development with other Japanese organizations. Coalition members can build on Cosmos open models, datasets, data-curation libraries and frameworks to test physical-AI systems before deployment.

  The cooperation covered elevators, building systems, healthcare, industrial equipment and semiconductor-manufacturing equipment. Hitachi China Research Institute, UBTECH and Hitachi Elevator conducted secondary development and operational testing on an elevator manufacturing floor.

• 2025-11-27 - Demonstration - Epistra reports laboratory bioprocess validation with Hitachi and Fermelanta

  Epistra reports that 60 experiments explored an 11-variable condition space, increasing reticuline yield from 3.2 to 6.0 g/L. The release reports up to 73% fewer laboratory experiments; pilot-scale validation was planned for fiscal 2025.

• 2019-12-27 - Acquisition - Hitachi completes acquisition of JR Automation

  JR Automation employed more than 2,000 people across 23 manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and Asia at closing. The acquired business serves automotive, life-sciences, aerospace and other manufacturers with intelligent automation systems. Hitachi planned to combine JR Automation system integration with its artificial-intelligence, IoT and manufacturing technologies.

  reviewed 2026-07-20 - Hitachi repeatedly demonstrated EMIEW service-robot prototypes and improved navigation, speech and information assistance across generations. Deployments remained trials and showcases rather than a broadly sold, supported product family. The successive model numbers show continuing R&D, not installed-base continuity comparable with a commercial robot platform.
