Zoox announces Houston and San Diego test-market expansion
Zoox said its test fleet would begin mapping Houston and San Diego later in September ahead of autonomous testing and any future robotaxi service.

Evidence notes
- The initial fleets are retrofitted Toyota Highlander SUVs used for manual mapping and later autonomous testing with safety drivers, not the purpose-built Zoox robotaxi.
- The additions take Zoox testing presence to 12 U.S. markets.
- Zoox did not announce a passenger-service launch date for either city; purpose-built robotaxis would follow only in a later phase.
Company context
Zoox develops a purpose-built autonomous robotaxi service with its own bidirectional electric vehicle, autonomy stack and rider experience.
