About Aurora Innovation
FirstLight lidar gives Aurora's driving system direct measurements of distance and relative velocity, which it combines with imaging radar and cameras. Separate perception and fault-management layers cross-check the surroundings, while onboard cleaning equipment keeps sensors usable during freight operations. This architecture supports the long stopping distances and changing visibility of highway trucking.
Aurora currently supplies driverless hauling capacity through its own commercial operations and is preparing a fee-per-mile Driver as a Service model for customer-owned fleets. Its production programme combines truck-manufacturer integration with Roush upfitting. In July 2026, its commercial network encompassed ten driverless routes across the U.S. Sun Belt.
