About
About Seneca
Argo-1 aircraft are designed for rapid aerial fire response using onboard infrared and video sensing, AI-assisted targeting and foam delivery. Seneca’s system supports remotely initiated launches and coordinated multi-aircraft operation for initial attack, hot-spot suppression, prescribed burns and difficult terrain where crewed aviation may be delayed or constrained.
Live-fire demonstrations preceded the company’s public launch, and Aspen Fire later agreed to acquire a five-aircraft strike team under a five-year contract. Each aircraft is designed to deliver more than 50 gallons of finished foam suppressant at over 100 PSI. The order was announced before planned summer 2026 fielding, so it remains an ordered system rather than proof of an operational fleet.

Events
- 2026-10-01 - Partnership - Ouster and Seneca announce REV8 OS1 Max integration partnership for wildfire drones
The lidar is mounted at the centre of the Argo-1 mast and combines 256 channels with up to 4K horizontal resolution. Seneca previously relied on infrared sensors and cameras for collision avoidance, mapping and object detection. Seneca cited temperature qualification from −40°C to +85°C and IP68/IP69K protection in selecting the sensor.
Source - 2026-09-14 - Capability - Ouster validates Rev8 OS1 Max accuracy for high-altitude drone mapping
Ouster rates the Rev8 OS1 Max at ±0.25 cm 1σ precision and ±1.25 cm accuracy, about twice the Rev7 generation, with a spot size up to 50% smaller for resolving wires from altitude. Native 48-bit RGB is assigned at the detector rather than aligned from a separate camera, eliminating parallax and a separate color-camera calibration step. GeoCue integrates OS1 Max in TrueView payloads; Seneca uses it on fire and utility flights, while Flyability is evaluating Rev8 OS0 for Elios 3.

Each aircraft is designed to deliver more than 50 gallons of finished foam suppressant at over 100 PSI. Aspen Fire had participated in more than a year of system development, including night operations and hard-to-reach terrain use cases. The district expected to begin deploying the aircraft in summer 2026 for wildfire response, prescribed burns and mop-up operations.

First Round Capital, Transition VC, Advance Venture Partners, Nextview Ventures, Bullpen Capital, Stepstone Group, DCVC and other firms participated. The company said the capital would improve system capabilities, harden the technology and increase production for its first field systems in the 2026 fire season. Before the launch, Seneca reported live-fire demonstrations and work with fire agencies in four U.S. states.
