TIER IV
About
About TIER IV
TIER IV develops the Autoware open-source software stack and commercial development platforms for autonomous driving. Autoware runs on ROS and Linux and covers sensing, localisation, perception, planning, control, vehicle interfaces and map handling, giving vehicle developers a hardware-agnostic foundation that can be adapted across vehicle designs.
Pilot.Auto packages scalable reference designs and software for defined driving applications, while Web.Auto supplies data management, machine learning, simulation, maps, fleet management, software updates, dispatch and remote support. Edge.Auto adds reference sensor and compute kits. TIER IV combines these layers with integration, safety assessment and deployment services for passenger transport, logistics and other autonomous-vehicle programmes.

Events
- 2026-10-16 - Partnership - Dynamic Map Platform joins Daiwa House and Hacobu autonomous-truck hub trial
DPL Hiratsuka and DPL Shin-Yokohama III will host validation of facility guidance, camera-assisted safety and mobility-hub operations. Dynamic Map Platform will provide high-precision 3D maps and a cooperative mobility platform; Hacobu will connect MOVO Berth reservations and develop hub-management software. The project plans to use TIER IV autonomous trucks to assess Level 4-equivalent facility driving and tractor–trailer exchange operations.
Source - 2026-10-05 - Award - TIER IV selected for METI grant supporting Saudi autonomous-bus trials
An unnamed European automaker will work with TIER IV to integrate the automated-driving system and adapt it using local data. Testing will start in closed environments before progressing to public roads. The programme includes cooperation with local operators, government and educational institutions on autonomous-driving and STEM skills.
Source - 2026-10-01 - Partnership - TIER IV joins Arm Total Design for Physical AI
The aim is ready-to-use Autoware configurations across Arm-based SoCs and in-vehicle computers. TIER IV contributes open-source autonomous-driving expertise to the wider computing ecosystem. Open AD Kit had already been demonstrated on Arm-based platforms at CES 2026.
