- 2026-10-05 - Partnership - Orbital Robotics and Arkisys plan ISS autonomous-arm demonstrations for 2027
Astronauts will install the arms on a NASA Astrobee to capture a second Astrobee and replace a compute module. Orbital is funding the programme, with Arkisys providing integration and platform support through its NASA Space Act Agreement. Three demonstrations are planned roughly a month apart, after which the arms will remain aboard for further experiments.
Source - 2026-02-10 - Partnership - Orbital Robotics signs exploratory orbital-compute LOI with Sophia Space
The work includes conceptual alignment, in-orbit sensor-data processing and long-term distributed infrastructure. Sophia Space’s modular computing concept combines solar power, AI processing and passive thermal management.
Source - 2025-11-24 - Partnership - Orbital Robotics announces Starcloud partnership
On-orbit computing could support robot simulation and training without downlinking large datasets. Recycling retired data-centre material into new spacecraft is a longer-term development goal.
Source - 2025-09-08 - Partnership - Orbital Robotics agrees Space Ocean evaluation of robotic arms and docking systems
The companies will explore grappling fixtures, end-effectors and hardware-in-the-loop rendezvous testing. Space Ocean anticipates up to 15 manipulators annually by 2030 if the technology meets its criteria.
