About MDA Space
MDA Space is a Canadian space-technology group spanning satellite systems, geointelligence and Robotics & Space Operations. Its robotics work covers manipulators, sensors, autonomous control and mission operations for space stations, satellite servicing, surface mobility and in-space assembly. The business builds on the Canadarm, Canadarm2 and Dextre heritage while operating from a dedicated Space Robotics Centre of Excellence in Brampton.
Current programmes include Canadarm3, an AI-enabled large arm, dexterous arm, tools and ground-control system for NASA-led Lunar Gateway, and MDA SKYMAKER, a modular commercial robotics family derived from the same technology. A C$1 billion Canadian Space Agency contract funds Canadarm3 final design, construction, integration and testing. Robotics & Space Operations generated C$99.5 million of Q2 2026 revenue, up 13.1% year over year, with growth driven by increased Canadarm3 work.

- 2026-08-07 - Market Signal - MDA Space reports C$99.5 million in Q2 robotics revenue
First-half Robotics & Space Operations revenue reached C$191.1 million, up 15.6% from C$165.3 million a year earlier. Quarterly segment revenue increased by C$11.5 million, while first-half segment revenue increased by C$25.8 million. MDA Space attributed both increases to a higher volume of work on the Canadarm3 programme.

The system comprises a large robotic arm, a smaller dexterous arm, specialized maintenance and science tools, and a ground command-and-control segment. The Phase C and D programme is expected to involve more than 200 Canadian companies in MDA Space's supply chain.
