About rFpro
rFpro develops simulation software for vehicle dynamics, advanced driver-assistance systems and autonomous driving. Engineers connect vehicle models, sensors, controllers and driving-simulator hardware to detailed virtual roads, proving grounds and race circuits. Repeatable scenarios let teams compare designs and test difficult conditions before committing to physical trials. The software supports both automated experiments and driver-in-the-loop development.
Its AV elevate offering brings synthetic sensor data and camera-development workflows into the same environment. A library of digital models supplies geometric, visual, lidar and radar characteristics, with integrations for external simulation and imaging tools. rFpro began in Formula 1 simulation work in 2007 and became part of AB Dynamics in 2019. Based in Romsey, the company serves automotive manufacturers, component suppliers and motorsport teams through software, digital models and engineering support.

Synthetic raw images from AV elevate feed directly into Xylon ISP Studio for processor-algorithm emulation. The workflow covers exposure, white balance, tone mapping, noise reduction and high-dynamic-range fusion. ISP Studio models the logicBRICKS pipeline bit-for-bit to support implementation on AMD FPGA and system-on-chip hardware.

The road surface is modelled at 1mm accuracy to reproduce the route’s detailed driving characteristics. A major Japanese vehicle manufacturer adopted the model for vehicle-dynamics development. The route extends a Japanese environment library that includes Tokyo’s C1 and Tomei expressways and major race and test circuits.

rFpro retained its brand and continued supplying other driving-simulator and test-equipment manufacturers. Founder Chris Hoyle stayed with the company to focus on technical and creative work. AB Dynamics had already sold an aVDS simulator running rFpro to the Sauber Group’s Alfa Romeo Racing Formula1team.
