ScoutDI
About
About ScoutDI
ScoutDI builds tethered drones and inspection software for confined industrial spaces. Founded in Trondheim in November 2017 as a spin-off from NTNU and its AMOS research centre, the company applies autonomous-navigation research to cargo tanks, refinery equipment and power-plant structures. Its Scout 137 Gen 3 combines onboard LiDAR navigation with visual, ultrasonic and three-dimensional data capture.
A tether supplies power and transfers data during inspection, while the aircraft navigates inside the asset without external positioning. Scout Operator and Companion support field work on inspection tablets; the Scout Portal cloud service organises flights into records that teams can review and share. An offline viewer and inspection services complement the hardware. ScoutDI supports international customers through a partner network and its Trondheim team.

A 128-beam lidar supports navigation and mapping, while a 3.5× optical zoom camera supports stand-off visual inspection. The ultrasonic payload combines surface preparation and thickness measurement during one docking. The platform adds an extended tether range of up to 60 metres, a revised pilot interface and easier field servicing.
