About
About AES Corporation
AES incubated Maximo to lift, position and mechanically attach photovoltaic modules on utility-scale tracker rows. The tracked system combines vision, LiDAR, robotic handling and a mobile power unit, and a two-person crew manages module supply and field operation. AES reported that multi-robot fleets had installed more than 130,000 modules across active projects by the end of 2025.
Maximo is now a commercial business inside AES, not solely an internal research programme. The company reported 72 MW of signed and completed contracts with engineering, procurement and construction customers during 2025. Its next-generation fleet is intended to build capacity toward one gigawatt of annual solar installation, a forward target that remains separate from completed deployment volume.

- 2026-03-25 - Production Milestone - Maximo completes 100 MW of robotic solar installation at AES' Bellefield complex
Maximo completed 100 MW of utility-scale solar installation at AES' Bellefield complex, scaling from a single robot to a fleet of four Maximo v3 units. AES said the fleet surpassed one module per minute and enabled crews to install as many as 24 modules per shift hour per person. The release framed the result as a large-scale proof point for robotic solar construction inside a live utility project.

AES said the facility would support construction of 2 GW of clean energy generation and storage capacity across nine U.S. states. The company described it as flexible project capital for backlog execution, with individual projects ranging up to 375 MW. AES said CIBC led the transaction as administrative agent, framing it as a large-scale financing signal tied to deployment capacity rather than a conventional private raise.

AES introduced Maximo as a robotic system that works alongside construction crews to automate placing and attaching solar modules. The company said Maximo had already installed nearly 10 MW of solar at launch and was projected to install 100 MW by 2025. AES said it planned to use Maximo across up to 5 GW of solar backlog and pipeline over the following three years, including Bellefield in California.
Source - 2024-06-27 - Partnership - AES partners with AI Fund to co-build AI-driven energy companies
AES named AI Fund as its exclusive energy partner for building new AI-focused companies around energy-transition bottlenecks. The initial build areas included renewables and battery management, worksite safety, and community-impact workflows. The collaboration combined AES' energy-sector operating base with AI Fund's venture-building and technical AI support.

AES and 5B said they would deploy up to 2x more solar energy 3x faster using 50% less land through 5B's prefabricated MAVERICK system. AES Panama was named for a 2 MW deployment and AES Gener in Chile for a 10 MW deployment at the Los Andes solar facility. The announcement positioned MAVERICK as a faster-deploying solar platform for utility-scale rollout.
