About Bharat Electronics
Bharat Electronics Limited is an Indian defence-electronics manufacturer established in 1954 under the Ministry of Defence and headquartered in Bengaluru. Its portfolio spans surveillance and fire-control radars, military communications, electronic warfare, electro-optics, naval electronics and command-and-control systems. The publicly listed company combines development, manufacturing and system integration, with additional businesses in civilian infrastructure and electronics.
Its counter-drone offering includes the D 4 system, developed by DRDO and productionised by BEL. The system combines radar detection and tracking, optical and thermal sensing, radio-frequency detection and jamming, and a laser directed-energy subsystem under a common command centre. BEL also supplies lightweight radars for low-flying aircraft and small-drone detection. These products establish a direct counter-UAS business within a much broader defence-electronics company; they serve surveillance and protection workflows rather than general-purpose robotics.
