About
About Drone Amplified
IGNIS carries and dispenses chemical ignition spheres from an approved drone. The mechanism injects each sphere immediately before release, beginning a delayed exothermic reaction after it reaches the ground. Operators use the associated flight application to define burn boundaries, flight lines and drop spacing while retaining control over the ignition mission.
IGNIS II and III provide different payload and aircraft-integration options, while MONTIS adds a lighter system for smaller platforms. Drone Amplified also supplies DA Flight software, training and operational support to fire agencies and prescribed-burn teams. The system allows ignition patterns to be established across steep or inaccessible terrain without placing a helicopter crew or ground igniter directly over every drop point.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-07-08 - Regulatory - Drone Amplified gains FAA clearance for MONTIS avalanche-control drone operations
The approval gives U.S. customers a legal framework to use MONTIS for drone-based avalanche mitigation. MONTIS is designed to let avalanche-management crews initiate controlled avalanches from safer standoff distances. The regulatory step follows Drone Amplified?s work on electronic ignition and aerial avalanche-control payloads.
Source - 2026-03-10 - Deployment - Drone Amplified deploys electronic ignition system for MONTIS avalanche-control drone
Drone Amplified deployed a new electronic ignition system for its MONTIS avalanche-control drone in Alaska. The system enables electronic detonator ignition, precision timing and airblast-style avalanche triggering. The event expands Drone Amplified hazardous-work drone systems from fire ignition into avalanche mitigation.
Source - 2024-11-01 - Capability - Drone Amplified IGNIS gains NSF-backed wildfire aerial ignition visibility
NSF highlighted Drone Amplified IGNIS for drone-enabled prescribed burn operations. The system equips drones with aerial ignition payloads and thermal-camera workflows for wildfire and prescribed-fire work.
Source - 2020-02-01 - Regulatory - Drone Amplified IGNIS payload receives interagency approval for UAS aerial ignition use
The payload was developed by Drone Amplified and tested on wildland fires during the 2018 fire season with favourable results. The approval gave interagency fire operators a formal pathway for drone-based aerial ignition in prescribed fire and wildfire operations.
