About Northstar Robotics
Northstar Robotics supplies autonomous navigation and control technology for off-road machinery used in agriculture, airports, municipalities and industrial sites. Its OpenSteer platform combines multiband positioning, lidar, radar, cameras and machine-learning perception to keep vehicles within configured routes and geofences while detecting people, obstacles and equipment.
The system can connect implements such as plough blades, brooms and sweepers so location-based actions occur automatically. Lead-follow operation coordinates multiple driverless vehicles behind an operator, and a web interface exposes machine diagnostics and fleet status. Northstar supports both equipment manufacturers and retrofit programmes from initial vehicle integration through commercial deployment and field support.

- Shawn Schaerer - Founder and former Chief Executive Officer - Founded NorthStar Robotics and led its autonomous off-highway vehicle programme before the corporation was dissolved.

- 2018-10-15 - Award - Northstar Robotics receives Canadian IRAP support for autonomous runway snowplow
The Industrial Research Assistance Program contribution totalled C$47,515. The funded project focused on an autonomous vehicle for snow removal on airport runways. The award provides an early dated anchor for Northstar's autonomous heavy-equipment work.
