Peraton provides engineering, software and mission services to United States defence, intelligence, civil and space agencies. Its work around autonomous systems sits within larger command, communications, cyber and intelligence programmes: teams develop AI-enabled sensing and targeting, resilient tactical networks, mission planning and operator tools that connect data from crewed and uncrewed assets.
Peraton Labs conducts research in autonomy, electronic warfare and counter-UAS technology. Contract work includes predictive networking for mobile forces and targeted kinetic defence against threats launched by unmanned aircraft. Operational teams also analyse adversary air, ground, surface and underwater uncrewed systems and their supporting networks. Peraton's role is primarily research, systems integration, software and mission support for government customers, with autonomous platforms incorporated into broader defence architectures rather than sold as a single commercial robot family.

Peraton demonstrated Adaptive Control with AI, a control technology designed to support safe operation of robotic systems in difficult or unexpected conditions. ACAI had been tested on a damaged robotic Army ground vehicle and on a crane simulating ship-to-ship replenishment in heavy seas. The technology is supported by DARPA’s Learning Introspective Control program and targets ground vehicles, ships, drone swarms and other robotic or autonomous systems.

Peraton Labs said it had secured nearly $100 million in research, development, engineering and advanced-technology awards since May 2024. Peraton received four U.S. Navy Unmanned Maritime Systems Support task orders valued at $27.45 million. The task orders covered MK 18 UUV operations, UUV fleet support representatives, enhanced software support and COIN software development lead work. Peraton said it had supported U.S. Navy unmanned underwater vehicle programs since 2001 and provided support across mine countermeasures, force protection, ASW and ISR missions.
