About Pliant Energy Systems
Pliant Energy Systems develops amphibious propulsion and robots based on flexible undulating foils. Velox uses paired ribbon-like fins to swim through water, crawl across sand and snow, and transition through surf or ice without changing propulsion hardware.
The fins generate thrust while also acting as compliant contact surfaces, allowing the platform to manoeuvre in vegetation, shallow water and irregular terrain. Payloads can include cameras, sonar and environmental sensors for nearshore survey, infrastructure inspection and mine countermeasures. Pliant also licenses and adapts the propulsion concept for vehicle developers exploring quiet, debris-tolerant movement.
