Avarai combines robotic arms, machine vision and Wootzano’s electronic skin to identify, grasp and pack individual pieces of produce. The tactile layer measures contact force across the gripper surface, allowing the system to handle soft or irregular fruit and recognise conditions such as an attached stem without relying solely on camera geometry.
The cell estimates product weight and selects packing positions to meet tray or carton requirements while reducing bruising and manual handling. Its footprint is designed to replace a packing position within an existing line, with installation, integration and continuing support provided by Wootzano. Commercial deployments cover fresh-produce operations in several countries and are offered without a large upfront equipment purchase.

The Fresno site supported Wootzano's Avarai robotic produce-packing system. The facility connected Wootzano's produce-handling automation to California agricultural customers. The milestone covered a named Fresno site setup rather than a robot deployment claim.

reviewed 2026-07-20 - Wootzano entered liquidation in November 2025 following lender action, but the Court of Session later paused the process and permitted the same company to resume trading, fulfil existing orders and accept new ones under interim supervision. Wootzano Limited remained listed as active after the court permitted trading to resume. Its present operation is therefore neither an uninterrupted normal trading history nor a brand revival by a different company: it is the original company trading again while its liquidation process is court-paused.
