Phantom S-Series

Phantom S-Series is Deep Ocean Engineering's inspection-class remotely operated vehicle family for work at depths up to 1,000 metres. Its open polypropylene frame accepts cameras, sonar, manipulators and survey instruments, with electrical bottles and cabling protected under removable covers. A standard system includes a tilting high-definition camera, dimmable LED lighting, graphical operator controls, automatic heading and pilot-assist stabilisation, and a 1,000-metre umbilical.

The S6 uses four vectored horizontal thrusters and two vertical thrusters, producing 165 kilogram-force of forward thrust at a vehicle weight of 295 kilograms. The S8 adds two aft thrusters, raising forward thrust to 260 kilogram-force and vehicle weight to 313 kilograms; lateral and vertical ratings remain common across the listed configurations. Both share a 1,360-by-860-by-740-millimetre envelope. Payload, tether, launch system and current conditions determine the usable performance of a configured vehicle in a particular inspection or survey operation.
