About ARGOS

ARGOS is Forssea Robotics' light-intervention and survey remotely operated vehicle for subsea inspection. ARGOS has a 500-metre standard depth rating with a 1,000-metre option, 7 kilowatts of vehicle power, a 20-kilogram payload and 60-kilogram through-frame lift.

Its standard configuration supports station keeping and automatic heading, depth and altitude control. Survey and intervention options include waypoint management, dynamic positioning, inspection sensors, sonar, manipulators and cleaning tools; the installed capability depends on the selected skid, sensors and tether system.

  • Mk1 PIONEER

    Evaluation - Mounted - Physical - Pioneer carried the ARGOS ROV during remote sea trials involving more than 40 launch-and-recovery cycles.

Timeline

  • ACUA and Forssea complete more than 40 remote ROV launch-and-recovery cycles

    2026-09-28 - Demonstration - The campaign covered six days at sea and up to eight launch-and-recovery cycles in one day. ARGOS inspected seabed features in more than 20 metres of water with up to 35 metres of tether deployed. Control ran from Turnchapel Wharf with Forssea supervision from Sète, including operation in two-metre waves.

  • Forssea ARGOS surveys Floatgen wind-turbine moorings

    2021-07-21 - Deployment - ARGOS surveyed the Floatgen turbine 12 nautical miles off Le Croisic at the SEM-REV sea test site. The ARGOS subsea inspection covered mooring lines, the dynamic umbilical, anchors, buoys and chain-to-rope connections. Forssea developed a dedicated survey skid while Sulmara Subsea supplied survey and positioning services for the operation.
