UST-30LX

UST-30LX is a lightweight two-dimensional laser scanner for localisation, mapping and obstacle sensing on mobile machines. It sweeps a 270-degree plane every 25 milliseconds and sends range plus intensity measurements over 100BASE-TX Ethernet. Selectable 0.25- or 0.125-degree angular steps let an integrator trade spatial detail against data volume, while multi-echo output can report as many as three returns along one direction.

Hokuyo specifies detection to 30 metres on a white target and 12 metres at ten-percent reflectance, with plus or minus 40-millimetre accuracy in its stated test range. The sensor weighs 130 grams and its housing is rated IP67, although the supplied connectors are excluded from that protection claim. It is explicitly not a safety device. Reliable results therefore require suitable mounting, power, network timing and application-level handling of reflectivity, sunlight, contamination, weather and ambiguous echoes.
