RPLIDAR S2

RPLIDAR S2 is SLAMTEC's family of 360-degree two-dimensional lidar sensors for mapping, localisation and obstacle detection indoors or outdoors. Direct time-of-flight ranging and a 32,000-sample-per-second scan rate provide distance observations around the sensor at a typical 10-hertz rotation rate. The 18-millimetre-high optical scan window and shared interface with earlier RPLIDAR A-series units are intended to simplify embedding or upgrading the sensor in mobile robots and other machines.

The S2, S2L and S2P use serial connections, while S2E provides a network interface. Maximum range on 90-percent-reflective targets spans 18 metres for S2L, 30 metres for S2 and S2E, and 50 metres for S2P; low-reflectivity range is shorter. The family is rated IP65, uses a Class 1 infrared laser and is specified to operate under illumination up to 80 kilolux. Target reflectivity, sunlight, contamination and mounting vibration affect achieved range and map quality.
