Honey Badger 5.0

About

About Honey Badger 5.0

Honey Badger 5.0 is MAB Robotics' current legged platform for harsh-environment mobility, inspection and autonomy development. The fifth generation adds a more durable mechanical design, updated safety algorithms and expanded support for payloads, sensors and control compared with Honey Badger 4.0.

MAB positions the robot across industrial inspection, mining, public safety, utilities, civil engineering and academic research. Its open integration approach lets teams add application-specific sensing and autonomy while preserving the quadruped as the mobility base. The manufacturer has ended sales of version 4.0 and continues to offer version 5.0.

Context

Market context

Honey Badger 5.0 is a rugged IP67 quadruped platform with a 12 kg body, up to 4 kg payload and up to 2 hours runtime for inspection and harsh-environment mobility.

  • Target environment: Dusty, wet, uneven and constrained field environments where wheeled robots struggle.
  • Workflow context: Industrial inspection, sensor/tool payload carriage, rough-terrain traversal and research mobility.
  • Customer context: Industrial inspection teams, mining operators, utilities, public-safety buyers, civil-engineering teams and robotics researchers.
  • Deployment model: Commercial quadruped platform with application-specific payload and autonomy integration.
  • Commercial maturity: Official product specifications are public and the 5.0 release replaces Honey Badger 4.0; adoption proof depends on named deployments and support scale.
  • Adoption constraints: Adoption depends on autonomy performance, payload ecosystem, field reliability, battery/runtime fit, waterproofing requirements and support outside research deployments.
  • Market position: Honey Badger 5.0 fits the industrial inspection quadruped lane beside Vision 60, Trakr and Unitree-style field quadrupeds, with a compact rugged profile and strong IP rating.
  • Adjacent products: Adjacent to quadruped inspection platforms, industrial sensor carriers and legged research robots.
