Kachaka
About
About Kachaka
Kachaka is Preferred Robotics’ compact household robot for moving everyday items on compatible wheeled furniture. It drives underneath a Kachaka shelf, docks with it and takes it to a saved location on a voice command or through the app. Users map their home, name furniture and destinations, and set up routines for tasks such as bringing supplies to a workspace or returning a shelf to storage. The original household product launched in Japan in May 2023.
Its navigation combines LiDAR, cameras and three-dimensional sensing to identify obstacles and maintain its position as the room changes. A docking sensor locates the furniture connection. The robot can move a combined furniture-and-content load of up to 20 kilograms. An optional developer API exposes movement, docking, robot status and sensor data through Python, ROS 2 and gRPC interfaces. Robot use requires compatible furniture and a monthly software subscription.
