Kivnon Spider

Kivnon Spider is an autonomous rack shuttle for storing and retrieving boxes in high-density warehouse systems. The vehicle moves along both horizontal and vertical rack axes without a separate external elevator, then carries the selected container to a picking station. Kivnon says the architecture can accommodate irregular L-, T- and N-shaped layouts, making it possible to use building volume that a regular aisle grid may leave inaccessible.

The shuttle handles loads up to 50 kilograms and boxes as large as 600 by 400 by 300 millimetres across storage heights from 0.16 to 20 metres. Stated maximum speeds are 4 metres per second horizontally and 3 metres per second vertically. Kivnon cites 400 to 800 order lines per hour per station, up to three times the storage density of conventional layouts and an installation time of about three days. Those are system-level claims whose realised throughput depends on rack design, station count and order profile.
