Sea Wasp

Sea Wasp is Saab’s tethered ROV for underwater explosive-ordnance intervention from a two-person operating team. Wideband sonar, cameras and LED lighting support object location and identification on hulls, harbour structures or the seabed, while a five-function manipulator positions an EOD disruptor or other mission tool.

The standard vehicle measures 1.3 by 0.5 by 0.4 metres, weighs 75 kilograms in air and operates to 150 metres depth in currents above 2.5 knots. Saab packages it as a modular system around the ROV, tether, surface power supply and control interface, with a manual winch and generator available as options. Six-degree-of-freedom control, Doppler velocity sensing and inertial navigation support precise positioning.
