About AUV62-AT
AUV62-AT is Saab's autonomous underwater target for anti-submarine-warfare training. A programmable echo repeater and passive acoustic output reproduce submarine signatures across active and passive frequency ranges, giving ships, aircraft and sonar teams a controllable target for exercises. The 21-inch vehicle weighs about 800 kilograms and operates from the surface to 300 metres depth.
Submerged speed is configurable from three to twelve knots, with endurance exceeding three hours at ten knots, nine hours at six knots and eighteen hours at three knots. Programmable target strength spans −20 to +20 dB. Exercise staff define the route and acoustic behaviour, then use the resulting run to train detection, tracking and analysis without deploying an operational submarine as the target.
