About
About PAL Robotics
PAL Robotics builds ROS-based research and service robots spanning mobile manipulation, biped locomotion, social interaction and RFID inventory. TIAGo and TIAGo Pro combine wheeled navigation with configurable arms and perception; KANGAROO and TALOS support humanoid research; StockBot performs tagged inventory surveys; and ARI supplies an interactive social-robot platform.
The current catalogue distinguishes open development hardware from narrower operational products. TIAGo Pro exposes ROS 2, MoveIt 2, Nav2 and simulator integrations around dual seven-degree-of-freedom arms and an omnidirectional base. KANGAROO is configurable from 14 to 40 degrees of freedom for locomotion and embodied-AI work. StockBot's RFID workflow is commercial, while research demonstrations on TIAGo, TALOS or KANGAROO apply only to the tested configuration and do not establish universal shipped skills.

Source - 2024-03-26 - Capability - PAL Robotics integrates Orientus sensors in TALOS and Kangaroo
Orientus supplied inertial and attitude measurements at 1 kHz with low latency. PAL combined base-pose measurements with joint kinematics and ground-contact information for whole-body torque control. The compact sensor was integrated in both TALOS and Kangaroo; the platforms were used for different locomotion research.
Source - 2024-02-29 - Demonstration - PAL Robotics tests teleoperated TIAGo in SAFE-LY healthcare study
Remote operators tested deliveries, video calls and patrolling across morning, afternoon and night shifts at El Carme. A closing staff workshop collected feedback to refine the robot’s functions and interaction methods.
Source - 2023-12-30 - Demonstration - PAL Robotics demonstrates TALOS climbing uncharted stairs
A lidar-derived elevation map fed a contact planner and model predictive controller, with inverse dynamics computing joint torques. TALOS climbed 15 cm stairs without prior terrain information and adapted after the stairs were moved. The completed ROS architecture ran onboard TALOS; applying the walking work to Kangaroo remained future work.
Source - 2023-08-31 - Capability - PAL Robotics releases Advanced Grasping software for TIAGo
The software combined Behavior Trees, MoveIt and computer vision, with perception, grasping and placing servers exposed through ROS Actions. Included demonstrations cleared objects into a basket and stacked two cubes using table and object templates. Supported end effectors included the PAL gripper and Robotiq 2F-85, 2F-140 and EPick.
Source - 2021-11-16 - Product Launch - PAL Robotics launches TIAGo OMNI++
The mecanum-wheel base enabled sideways as well as forward and rotational movement; two lidar sensors covered a 360-degree field of view. Two seven-axis arms accepted interchangeable end effectors, including PAL and Robotiq grippers, while a torso screen supported interaction research.
Source - 2020-09-18 - Deployment - PAL Robotics tests TIAGo delivery robots in Barcelona hospitals
The trials took place at Hospital Municipal of Badalona and Hospital Clínic Barcelona. A conveyor moved food trays to isolated patients, while a coded safe restricted access to medicines and other sensitive goods. Accerion’s Triton floor-sensing camera supported navigation through narrow, populated hospital corridors.
Source - 2019-12-18 - Product Launch - PAL Robotics introduces ARI social robot
The launch configuration combined Intel processing with an NVIDIA Jetson TX2 GPU, RGB and depth cameras, a microphone array and speakers. ROS and REST interfaces let developers compose gestures, touchscreen content and dialogue, then test applications in simulation.
Source - 2018-11-07 - Deployment - PAL Robotics TALOS joins University of Waterloo RoboHub
The University of Waterloo described TALOS as the first platform of its kind in Canada. RoboHub planned to use TALOS for control and gait synthesis, manipulation planning, HRI, machine learning and high-DoF robot research.
