About

About TIAGo

TIAGo combines a differential or omnidirectional mobile base, lifting torso and up to two seven-axis arms. Configurable grippers, force-torque sensors, cameras, lidar and compute options support navigation, grasping and human-robot interaction.

The ROS-based software stack provides simulation, MoveIt integration, whole-body control, advanced navigation and visual programming. Arm payload reaches three kilograms, and one or two batteries provide four to ten hours of operation. PAL Robotics supplies TIAGo for AI, healthcare, service robotics and industrial research.

Existing approaches capture only parts of this problem: scene graphs capture spatial relations but ignore temporal grounding, temporal reasoning methods model dynamics but do not support embodied interaction, and dynamic scene graphs handle both but remain closed-world with fixed vocabularies.

2022-10-20 - Research Publication - Abstract In this article, we aim to evaluate the role of robots’ personality-driven behavioural patterns on users’ intention to use in an entertainment scenario. Toward such a goal, we designed two personalities: one introverted with an empathic and self-comparative interaction style, and the other extroverted with a provocative and other-comparative interaction style. To evaluate the proposed technology acceptance model, we conducted an experiment ( N = 209) at a public venue where users were requested to play a game with the support of the TIAGo robot. Our findings show that the robot personality affects the acceptance model and three relevant drivers: perceived enjoyment, perceived usefulness, and social influence. The extroverted robot was perceived as more useful than the introverted, and participants who interacted with it were faster at solving the game. On the other hand, the int

  • Grasping learning, optimization, and knowledge transfer in the robotics field.

2022-03-16 - Research Publication - Service robotics is a fast-developing sector, requiring embedded intelligence into robotic platforms to interact with the humans and the surrounding environment. One of the main challenges in the field is robust and versatile manipulation in everyday life activities. An appealing opportunity is to exploit compliant end-effectors to address the manipulation of deformable objects. However, the intrinsic compliance of such grippers results in increased difficulties in grasping control. Within the described context, this work addresses the problem of optimizing the grasping of deformable objects making use of a compliant, under-actuated, sensorless robotic hand. The main aim of the paper is, therefore, finding the best position and joint configuration for the mentioned robotic hand to grasp an unforeseen deformable object based on collected RGB image and partial point cloud. An appealing opportunity to solve the mentioned task is to leverage on machine learning algorithms to let the robot adapt its behavior to unknown scenarios, defining the best strategy for a grasping and manipulation task in a trial and error process.
