  Pony.ai supplies autonomous-driving technology, Uber connects to riders, and Verne provides the operating framework. The Manchester tests extend a collaboration that has already operated in Zagreb. Transport for Greater Manchester said no applications to operate driverless taxis in the area had yet been made.

  The ES-AV authorization covers mapping, route validation and operational-readiness testing across high-demand areas of Greater Madrid. Commercial operations are targeted by year-end 2026; the permit is the GXR's first national approval in the EU.

  Riders can be matched with an RT6 through UberX or Comfort, or select a dedicated Autonomous option in the Uber app. The initial service area covers select locations in Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah, with New Horizon Luxury Transport operating the fleet. The sixth-generation electric RT6 carries up to three passengers and uses more than 30 sensors for autonomous operation.

  BAIC New Energy and Pony.ai launched road testing in Zagreb for the ARCFOX Alpha T5 Robotaxi, taking their L4 autonomous-driving program into Europe for the first time. The deployment was tied to a wider commercialization plan with Croatian autonomous-mobility company Verne and Uber, with Zagreb positioned as the first rollout market before expansion into additional European cities and other geographies. BAIC said the vehicle uses Pony.ai's seventh-generation autonomous-driving hardware and software stack and that the broader 2026 plan targets 1,000 Robotaxi deployments under the partners' 2.0 cooperation framework.

At the time of the agreement, the fleet comprised more than 2,700 robots across over 270 locations. The companies said the robots could complete deliveries in under 30 minutes over distances of up to two miles.

  Serve’s commercial agreement with Uber allows its sidewalk delivery robots to operate on Uber Eats in multiple U.S. markets, with up to 2,000 robots planned. The announcement followed Serve’s first year in Los Angeles, where more than 200 restaurants were participating and robotic deliveries had grown more than 30% month over month. Serve described the agreement as a step toward mass commercialization, building on completed deliveries in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

• Uber stopped owning its air-taxi programme but retained a role in Joby's route to market

  reviewed 2026-07-19 - Joby acquired Uber Elevate's team, planning and operations software, patents and other aerial-rideshare assets, while Uber invested in Joby and entered a continuing integration agreement. Elevate therefore did not continue as an Uber aircraft programme: technical and operating work moved to Joby, while Uber's surviving role was demand aggregation and app/service integration rather than aircraft development.
