About Kongsberg Discovery AS
HUGIN combines a free-swimming autonomous vehicle with inertial navigation, swappable energy and data storage, onboard processing and configurable sonar, camera and environmental payloads. The family supports subsea survey, infrastructure inspection, mine countermeasures and scientific data collection at depths reaching 6,000 metres, with deployment from dedicated ships, vessels of opportunity or shore-based container systems.
Kongsberg Discovery also supplies multibeam echosounders, synthetic-aperture sonar, GNSS and motion systems across third-party survey fleets. By 2025, 12 navies were using HUGIN in operational missions, and the company had announced U.S. production to support government and commercial demand. The legal company sits inside KONGSBERG's broader Discovery division, which now also contains space and surveillance activities.
