Destinus
About
About Destinus
Destinus develops aircraft, propulsion, avionics and manufacturing capacity across its Hornet, Ruta, Kryla and Vorexon programmes. Hornet is a multi-role autonomous aircraft for counter-UAS, strike, reconnaissance and communications-relay missions. A shared technical architecture allows flight-control, mission and payload functions to move across several platform families.
Shield AI integrated Hivemind with Hornet’s flight-control architecture during a two-month campaign completed in March 2026. The software altered routes around geofenced areas updated during flight and established the platform as the first baseline for wider heterogeneous teaming. Destinus combines this autonomy work with vertically integrated European production, including serial turbojet manufacture and programme partnerships with allied defence companies.

Events
- 2026-09-30 - Partnership - Aeon licenses Destinus Hornet interceptor for planned U.S. manufacturing
The licensing arrangement targets a Texas production start in the first or second quarter of 2027 and an eventual 500 interceptors per month. The joint proposal is one of ten Topic 1 finalists scheduled for an October live demonstration. The Army competition may select up to three winners by December 31.
Source - 2026-06-30 - Partnership - Destinus and TNO plan radar-seeker joint venture for interceptor systems
TNO designed the RF radar seeker. Destinus would handle system design, engineering, integration, industrialisation and market introduction. The partners expect first demonstration products early next year, subject to approvals.
Source - 2026-06-15 - Demonstration - Full-mission Hornet exercise validates Hivemind counter-UAS autonomy
Shield AI and Destinus completed a full-mission flight exercise with Hivemind on the Destinus Hornet interceptor. The Segovia, Spain tests validated AI piloting, coordination and in-flight adaptation in a counter-UAS mission profile. The companies framed the mission set around loitering munitions, drone swarms and hostile uncrewed threats.
