Dexcel Robotics develops Apex Hand, a dexterous end effector for manipulation research and embodied-AI systems. The 1.2-kilogram hand has 21 articulated degrees of freedom, 16 active joints, backdrivable actuation and a stated maximum load of 30 kilograms. Position, velocity and torque control are available through its real-time interface.

An electronic-skin layer covers the fingertips, inner joints and palm, with optional pressure and fingertip tangential-force sensing. The controller can return joint position, current, temperature and tactile data over Ethernet at up to 1,000 hertz. This integrated sensing and actuation gives developers a platform for grasp learning, contact-rich manipulation and teleoperation while leaving arm selection and whole-robot control to the host system.
