About Apex Hand
Apex Hand is Dexcel Robotics' five-finger dexterous end effector for embodied-AI research, manipulation and physical-interaction data collection. Its human-like mechanism provides 21 joints and 16 active degrees of freedom, with backdrivable tendon-linkage transmission and absolute encoders across the joints.
The 1.2-kilogram hand supports a 30-kilogram maximum load, grasp cycles up to three hertz and fingertip repeatability below 0.5 millimetres. Optional electronic skin covers the fingertips, inner finger segments and palm to measure pressure distribution and tangential force. Ethernet and RS-485 interfaces, a 1,000-hertz control loop, ROS 2 examples and C++ and Python tooling support integration with robot arms and learning systems.
