Hello Robot builds Stretch mobile manipulators as open development platforms for work in human spaces. Stretch 4 combines a three-wheel omnidirectional base, high-speed lift, telescoping arm, three-axis wrist and interchangeable end tool in a 43-centimetre-diameter footprint. Its arm reaches 55 centimetres and handles up to 2.5 kilograms when extended or four kilograms when retracted, while removable ballast simplifies transport.

Dual hemispherical LiDAR units and multiple RGB cameras provide nearly all-around workspace sensing, supported by onboard edge-AI compute. The open software stack includes Python interfaces, ROS 2, Nav2, MoveIt, MuJoCo and Gazebo resources, plus browser teleoperation and reference demonstrations for mapping, navigation, grasping and learning from demonstrations. Researchers can attach custom tools, external GPUs and new sensors through documented mechanical and software interfaces. Stretch remains a professional research and commercial-development platform, not a certified consumer home appliance.
