About Humanoid Robot (Shanghai)

Humanoid Robot (Shanghai) operates shared development infrastructure for humanoid robotics, bringing together open robot platforms, component development, manufacturing support and testing services. Its Qinglong programme uses a modular approach to motion, actuation, sensing and end-effectors, allowing component work to feed into complete robot integration.

The organisation also releases the Baihu embodied-intelligence dataset. Data is produced, processed and stored against standards defined by the centre before being opened to external developers. Alongside physical platforms, its services cover training, evaluation and application environments, giving research teams common hardware, data and validation resources for developing embodied systems.

Timeline

Events

  • 2024-09-24 - Capability - Xsens motion capture selected by Humanoid Robot (Shanghai)

After testing optical and inertial alternatives, Humanoid Robot (Shanghai) selected Xsens inertial motion capture; its team reported no data-drift issues with the system. The setup captured human movement for teleoperation and AI training while the robots were being taught tasks including walking and sorting red beans from soybeans. The case describes scaling data collection across multiple workers and using AI-assisted annotation to build larger training datasets for humanoid motion and manipulation.
