Karman Space & Defense produces integrated hardware for launch vehicles, spacecraft, missiles, hypersonic systems and uncrewed aircraft. Payload systems include deployable fairings, low-shock separation mechanisms, launch tubes, canisters and recovery equipment. Aerodynamic and interstage structures protect vehicles through flight, while carbon-carbon, ceramic and phenolic materials shield payloads and solid-rocket nozzles from extreme heat.
Propulsion work extends from propellant and nozzle assemblies to gas generators, electronic safe-and-arm units, launchers and electromechanical release systems. Karman combines design, analysis, material production, machining, composite fabrication, assembly, environmental qualification and rate manufacturing across US facilities. It reports more than 20,000 solid-propellant systems and launch systems delivered, serves over 80 prime contractors on more than 130 programmes, and has supplied hardware for missions including ULA Vulcan, Atlas V and NASA's OSIRIS-REx capsule.
