About Ross Robotics
Ross Robotics combines mobile inspection hardware with sensor analysis for high-voltage infrastructure. Its EXTRM platform brings optical cameras, infrared thermography, ultraviolet sensing, audio and environmental measurements into a common inspection system. Autonomous localisation and mapping guide a modular drive platform through valve halls, substations and other energy sites, while an AI-assisted data suite helps operators review measurements and asset condition.
Deployment includes assessing the site and planning installation around the operator's maintenance arrangements. Ross offers outright equipment purchase with optional support, or a monthly lease that includes annual maintenance. This connects recurring inspection to an ongoing equipment-service model, with the robot gathering multiple types of condition data from areas where access during live operation is difficult.

- 2026-09-04 - Deployment - Ross Robotics expands SSEN Transmission HVDC inspection fleet
The seven new robots are assigned across Blackhillock, Spittal, Kergord and Noss Head to inspect and monitor energized HVDC infrastructure. SSEN said the new rollout follows successful operation of an earlier Blackhillock robot and takes the fleet to eight in total. The programme is expected to complete more than 5,000 autonomous inspections over the next 12 months while recording thermal and ultraviolet information from live HVDC halls.
Source - 2024-02-19 - Deployment - Ross Robotics robot deployed at SSEN Transmission Blackhillock HVDC substation
The deployment was described as the first of its kind in Scotland. The robot was used for inspection inside a high-voltage direct-current substation environment. The project extended Ross Robotics’ profile in critical-energy infrastructure inspection.
Source - 2021-11-16 - Partnership - Ross Robotics partners with Siemens Energy, Nemo Link and Elia on HVDC inspection robots
The project focused on robotic inspection for electricity transmission assets. Ross Robotics framed the work around robots operating in HVDC converter environments. The named partners connected the effort to Nemo Link and Elia transmission infrastructure.
