About Ground Control Robotics
Ground Control Robotics was co-founded in Atlanta in 2022 from locomotion research led by Georgia Tech professor Dan Goldman. Its core platform, SCUTL, uses a segmented centipede-like architecture and multiple gait patterns to move through crawlspaces, attics, uneven ground and other environments that are difficult for wheeled or conventional legged robots.
SCUTL is designed as a modular mobility base compatible with RGB, thermal and panoramic cameras as well as task-specific sensors and manipulators. The company is targeting pest control, architecture and construction inspection, and specialty agriculture. A 2026 NASA award for Mars advanced surface mobility extends the same locomotion research into planetary use, but the profile remains classified around terrestrial difficult-access inspection rather than as a space company.
