Salem's proposed workflow starts with an operator defining an inspection from a dashboard. The robot then navigates the facility, handles instruments and associates measurements with the survey, producing structured records for review. Manipulation is part of the platform's design, including interaction with doors and valves that can prevent a mobile robot from completing a route.
Plants can run Salem's software on suitable robots they already own or obtain a robot as part of the system. The company is pursuing nuclear inspection first and extending the approach to other hazardous facilities. Its Summer 2026 launch described contract-scoping discussions in nuclear and oil and gas, placing the business in early customer development.

The award followed the April 9-11 competition, where 42 student-led startups pitched in Houston.
