About Seatrec
Seatrec’s infiniTE system converts the temperature difference between warm surface water and colder deep water into electrical energy. A profiling float changes depth, melts and solidifies a phase-change material, and drives a thermodynamic cycle that recharges onboard batteries, allowing sensors and communications to operate without replacing a primary battery after a fixed number of dives.
The company integrates the power system into autonomous floats and develops rechargeable power modules for other subsea platforms. Missions can carry hydrophones and oceanographic sensors for weather, soundscape, mapping and defence applications, and Seatrec reports up to four 1,000-metre profiles per day without shortening deployment life. Seatrec also provides engineering and mission services, including float configuration, launch and data delivery, and is extending the same thermal-harvesting architecture toward seabed and polar power stations.
