About Skyports Drone Services
Skyports Drone Services plans and operates complete electric-drone networks, selecting aircraft for each route and managing flight operations, safety cases, ground infrastructure and customer integration. Delivery programmes move medical samples, medicines and other urgent cargo, while inspection programmes collect imagery and sensor data from buildings, transport assets and remote industrial sites.
The company describes its model as a drone airline and operates across 13 countries. A 2026 New York trial connects Manhattan and Brooklyn for cargo flights after an earlier proof of concept completed 135 flights over 151 miles. Other current work includes automated drone-in-a-box surveying with HOCHTIEF and healthcare logistics routes, showing how the business combines aircraft from partners with its own deployment and operating capability.

- 2026-10-13 - Deployment - DJI Dock 2 supports Skyports BVLOS surveys at HumeLink West
A permanently deployed DJI Dock2 conducts surveys every two weeks, supervised from Lane Cove more than350 km away. The programme follows a12-month EVLOS survey campaign and uses CASA broad-area BVLOS approval. DroneDeploy processes flight data into2D and3D site models for construction monitoring.

Maintenance kits weighed approximately 55–65 kg and were delivered before technicians arrived, then returned to the vessel after work. The team completed a roughly 4 km flight beyond visual line of sight inside the wind farm, monitored from the service vessel. Automatic load attachment removed manual bag connection, and turbines could continue generating during deliveries and collections.

Four drone-in-a-box systems are planned at substations across the Lake District for the 12-month trial starting in November. Skyports pilots will operate more than 200 miles away; live imagery will reach SP ENW’s control room for eSmart Systems’ Grid Vision analysis. The Ofgem-funded programme will support post-storm fault finding and routine power-line inspection around Carlisle and Kirkby Stephen.
