HUGIN AUV

HUGIN is Kongsberg Discovery’s family of autonomous underwater vehicles for seabed mapping, inspection, environmental survey and defence missions. The vehicles combine aided inertial navigation with configurable synthetic-aperture sonar, multibeam, camera, sub-bottom and scientific payloads. Operating modes range from acoustic supervision to fully autonomous missions, with terrain following and onboard processing.

The family boundary covers materially different vehicles. Current marketing identifies HUGIN Edge, HUGIN Superior and HUGIN Endurance, while technical support continues for depth-rated HUGIN 3000 and 6000 configurations. Published family figures reach 6,000 metres of operating depth and up to 100 hours at 4 knots; HUGIN Endurance extends to shore-to-shore missions measured in days and thousands of kilometres. These maxima belong to different members and are recorded as family-level ranges, not specifications for one universal hull.
