About Nuro R3

Nuro R3 is a purpose-built, zero-occupant autonomous delivery vehicle unveiled in 2022. The automotive-grade design combines modular heated and cooled cargo compartments, curb-side access, redundant steering, braking, computing and power systems, and an external front airbag intended to reduce pedestrian injury. Published specifications include a 500-pound cargo capacity, 27 cubic feet of storage and a top operating speed of 45 mph.

Nuro launched R3 on public roads for validation, but in May 2023 delayed the planned production line and reduced commercial pilots while prioritising its autonomy stack. The company later shifted toward licensing and integrating the Nuro Driver on partner vehicles. R3 therefore remains a development and engineering-fleet platform rather than a current mass-produced delivery product, and the profile does not inherit commercial deployment claims from R2 or Nuro's later robotaxi programme.
