Sharpa AE01
About
About Sharpa AE01
AE01 uses 22 encoders to reproduce natural hand motion without a separate calibration step. Five linear-resonant actuators provide one vibration channel per fingertip, each with 256 dynamic levels. The glove is offered in four sizes and is rated for more than one million motion cycles, with fingertip-position repeatability below one millimetre.
The interface streams at 500 hertz over USB-C or 150 hertz through its wireless dongle. Sharpa states five-millisecond wired latency, ten-millisecond wireless latency and a wireless range of up to 30 metres. Battery life exceeds three hours with a stated one-hour charge time. AE01 is designed as the human-side controller and data-capture device for teleoperating robots such as D01; it does not perform the remote robot’s manipulation independently.
Timeline
- Sharpa launches D01, W02 and AE01 tactile-manipulation platform products
2026-09-28 - Product Launch - D01 combines body electronic skin with arm-end speed above 10.5 m/s and 0.2 mm repeat positioning accuracy. W02 integrates 21 active degrees of freedom, visual fingertip tactile sensing and electronic skin across the rest of the hand. AE01 uses 22 encoders to capture hand motion and provides 256 levels of continuous haptic feedback per fingertip.
