About
About RTX Corporation
RTX is an aerospace and defence group comprising Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney and Raytheon.
Its autonomy work spans distinct business units. Collins develops flight controls, navigation, sensing, communications and pilot-assistance software for autonomous and uncrewed aircraft, while Raytheon supplies Coyote effectors within counter-UAS systems. Programme maturity and operating authority remain tied to each named product and customer deployment. Its businesses develop sensors, avionics, propulsion and autonomous technologies for aerospace and defence programmes.

Timeline
Events
- 2026-10-13 - Contract Award - Raytheon wins $729M in counter-drone awards for U.S., Qatar and Jordan
The awards cover fixed-site and mobile configurations combining Ku-band Radio Frequency Sensor with kinetic and non-kinetic Coyote effectors. RTX is expanding Coyote production and integrating upgrades to launch speed, flight speed, range and altitude.
Source - 2026-07-21 - Production Milestone - Pratt & Whitney completes Valox 1500 digital-design milestone
Valox 1500 is intended for semi-autonomous collaborative aircraft. Ground testing is the next stated programme step. The work follows a U.S. Air Force development award worth more than $10 million announced in late 2025.
Source - 2026-02-20 - Demonstration - Collins Sidekick flies GA-ASI YFQ-42A autonomously for four hours
Autonomy mode controlled a four-hour flight while a human operator supervised from the ground. The test integrated Sidekick with the YFQ-42A mission systems and paired the uncrewed aircraft with crewed fighters. The flight supported the U.S. Air Force Collaborative Combat Aircraft Increment 1 programme.
Source - 2026-02-11 - Demonstration - Non-kinetic Coyote defeats multiple drone swarms
Raytheon announced the Coyote Block 3NK demonstration on February 11, 2026. The system completed launch, flight, non-kinetic intercept and recovery against multiple drone swarms. Its recoverable design supports redeployment while extending the Army counter-UAS Coyote family beyond kinetic interceptors.
Source - 2025-07-08 - Demonstration - Barracuda completes first untethered open-water mission
Raytheon announced the Narragansett Bay demonstration on July 8, 2025. Barracuda navigated, communicated and detected and identified a target during its first untethered open-water mission. The milestone advanced a reusable US Navy mine-neutralization system designed to reduce diver exposure.
Source - 2025-07-01 - Partnership - RTX and Shield AI partner on autonomous defense systems
RTX plans to integrate Shield AI’s Hivemind autonomy platform into selected defense products, including loitering munitions and sensors, for U.S. and allied defense forces. The companies said the work would target an operational weapon powered by Networked Collaborative Autonomy, with the collaboration fully funded by RTX and Shield AI rather than by government investment. Shield AI also plans to integrate ViDAR software with RTX’s Multi-Spectral Targeting System to support automated sensor autonomy against maritime and airborne swarm targets.
Source - 2024-10-15 - Demonstration - Raytheon autonomy coordinates launched effects at EDGE
RTX announced the EDGE24 autonomy demonstration on October 15, 2024. Raytheon CODE software coordinated Coyote Block 3 surrogate aircraft with Collins mission systems. The aircraft adapted collaboratively in a communications-denied environment, demonstrating distributed mission execution.
