About Furuno
Furuno Electric traces its operating history to 1938 and was incorporated in 1951. Headquartered in Nishinomiya, it makes marine electronics spanning radar, sonar, GNSS, AIS, ECDIS, satellite communications, compasses and autopilots. Its navigation and sensing equipment serves commercial vessels, fishing fleets and workboats.
HydroSurv uses Furuno navigation and situational-awareness equipment, alongside TimeZero, on the REAV-47 uncrewed survey vessel supplied to GOSL in Nigeria. The vessel combines those inputs with a separate Dynautics autopilot and HydroSurv's Virtual Watchkeeper control system for remotely supervised hydrographic and geophysical work.

- 2025-11-06 - Demonstration - Furuno demonstrates FBUSV-1 autonomous sediment survey at Aono Dam
The survey covered approximately 40 hectares and followed measurement lines spaced 100 metres apart. Setup and removal took half an hour, while the survey took two hours; Furuno compared these with 2024 single-beam survey timings.
